Michael Carrick has explained why highly rated youngster JJ Gabriel is yet to feature at senior level, revealing that the player is currently too young to play due to Premier League regulations.
Speaking about the promising talent, Carrick praised Gabriel’s development while stressing the importance of patience in managing young players.
“He is too young to play due to PL rules… but he’s doing really well,” Carrick said.
Carrick also highlighted the club’s belief in the young prospect after an impressive season with the Under-18 side.
“JJ is a big talent, he’s had a really good season for the under-18s. We obviously think an awful lot of him, but patience is important in managing everything.”
Gabriel’s performances at youth level have attracted attention, but the club remains focused on allowing the youngster to develop at the right pace before making the step up to senior football.
